Hi, I’m Pete 👋 – the man behind the name and the bad puns that will have you in stitches. (I’m so sorry.)

I like to sew and I like to help other people to sew.

I have been working exclusively in alterations for four years now because I love the diversity of the work and I’m a raging people-pleaser who enjoys making clients happy when garments fit perfectly. I’ve never met a dress that has defeated me!

Running my own business? Absolute dream. Not just because I get to fix clothes, but because it means more time with the people and dogs I love. Oh, and sailing. I live on the Mornington Peninsula because my life’s mission involves as much time on the water as possible. Feel free to ask me about sailing or sewing, but just to be clear—I won’t repair your sails.

Before I was knee-deep in thread and bobbins, I was a tour guide and a primary school teacher, which means I’ve spent years wrangling every kind of chaos. There’s a special kind of skill involved in herding hoards of hyperactive children, and it just so happens it transfers beautifully to teaching adults how not to sew their fingers together.

As someone who’s faced nearly every sewing disaster imaginable (trust me, I’ve seen things…), I make a pretty great teacher. I’ve been working with groups for over 20 years across a ton of different industries, and sewing instruction is just the latest stop on this wild ride.

And my little shop? It’s more than just a shop. It’s an eclectic, hectic, very welcoming workshop venue and community sewing room. If you’ve got your own sewing project and need a space to work on it (with or without my expert guidance), just ask. This is my passion, you guys, and I’m here for you all, whether you’re working on a DIY disaster, a pair of fringed leather chaps or a pair of cat’s pyjamas. Let’s do this 👊

Also, there’s tea to drink and a dog to pat. Because what’s sewing without a little floofy encouragement? Archie is often found in his window throne and will welcome you to the shop if you’ve got a pat for him.
