Can you alter my dress?
I love altering dresses! They test my creativity and ingenuity because they are all made differently and each alteration is unique which I thrive on.

How long does it take to get an alteration done?
This depends on what needs to be done and how urgently you need it.
Usually I work on jobs in the order that they come in the door and my regular turnaround time is between one and three weeks depending on the amount of jobs that come in and my class commitments.
I will always be upfront about my turnaround so please ask if it matters to you.
I do, however, offer an express service for an additional fee. I do this because clients often come to me wanting something done urgently for a variety of reasons.
If you would like me to complete the work in a guaranteed 48 hours then I will simply charge $18 on top of the alteration fee. I limit this to $80 worth of work.
If you’ve left it very late and have an urgent engagement then I offer a while-you-wait service for $36 extra. This means that you get to have a little wander around Capel Sound (the beach is across the road) or you can browse my books and pat my dog.
(This service is conditional on my availability and the nature of the work to be done, please call for advice)
So, if you need some work done on your clothing and don’t have time to spare then simply give me a call or drop into the shop today.

Can you replace a zipper?
Absolutely I can replace a zipper but before we get to that let’s have a little chat about zips themselves.
Zippers are an amazing piece of clothing technology that we take for granted and very few of us actually understand how they work. There are two sets of teeth, one for each side of the zip, each tooth (either plastic or metal) is offset so it fits snugly between two teeth on the other side. The wedge is the zip slider that forces the two sets of teeth together and apart. The zipper tag or zipper pull is what you grab ahold of.

Can you make my pants shorter? What about my dress?
Absolutely! That is the thing that I do best and most often.
It is very common for Ready To Wear (RTW) clothing to be the wrong size for you. There is nothing wrong with you but everything wrong with the clothes.

Can you make my suit fit better?
Absolutely I can. A well fitted suit is very important and it is one of the jobs that I do best.
Most suit jackets and dress pants are made to be altered. Like I’ve mentioned in the past, very few of us fit perfectly into off the rack clothing and suit manufacturers know this so they usually make allowances for it. Having said that, there are, of course, limits to what can be done and how easily I can achieve your fitting goal.

Can you add pockets to my dress?
HELL YES!!!!!
I often ponder why all dresses and skirts don’t have pockets. Can anyone answer that question? I know that designers will carry on about lines and drape and all that but really, where do you put your phone? Do you have to rent a pocket from a friend?

How much will my alterations cost?
The cost of alterations depends on the amount of work that is required. Some jobs are common and I know exactly what is involved while others are more complex so the cost is higher
