How much will my alterations cost?
How much do you want done? What is the correct fit worth to you?
The cost of alterations depends on the amount of work that is required. Some jobs are common and I know exactly what is involved while others are more complex so the cost is higher.
The challenge with many complex alteration jobs is the time I have to spend unpicking and opening up your garment to access the part that needs altering. You can think of it like getting your car serviced; an old Datsun 120Y is easy to service because all the parts are visible, in a modern Carolla everything is hidden behind guards and panels so mechanics spend a lot of time just accessing the part they need to service.
If you want me to remodel or adjust a gown or suit jacket I might have to spend an hour just getting it apart and then another hour getting it back together again.
Here are some standard alteration costs to give you a guide:
- Jeans hemming: $39
- Dress/skirt hemming: from $49
- Trouser hemming: $49
- Zipper Replacement: $62
- Jacket/coat tailoring: from $139
I have other set prices that I charge and I always quote a job when you drop it off and I will always stick to that price. If I encounter an unforeseen challenge when I begin I will call you to discuss the options and you can choose what you would like me to do.
With repairs I will often offer a range of options depending on how much you are willing to pay and how important the finished look is to you. Again I will stick to the quoted price once you decide what work you would like me to do.
I ask for payment up front and I offer a workmanship guarantee on my work.
I look forward to seeing you all soon with your repairs and alterations.
